Mike Lane, Chairman of REMSAFE Pty Ltd
In our recent Pioneer podcast our CEO Robert Pierce is joined by Mike Lane, Chairman of REMSAFE Pty Ltd.
In this interview, Mike reveals the inspiration for his invention and the journey for improved productivity. With a focus on quicker production processes, his aim is to raise awareness in safety rated remote isolations.
As an electrician with a business management degree, Mike has over 30 years of experience in electrical power distribution and process control on fixed plant for the petroleum and mining industries. Mike has worked for BHP as an Electrical Foreman, Rio Tinto and FMG as an embedded advisor for productivity and safety optimisation, ICM Engineering Group as CEO and now REMSAFE as Inventor and Business Owner.
In 2009, Mike invented the REMSAFE® Remote Isolation System. Mike started developing this system 25 years ago while working for BHP. He noticed the wasted productivity due to time consuming isolations that at times are done incorrectly by people.
Mike gives insight on the innovative nature of the mining industry and the companies he has collaborated with. For the REMSAFE® Remote Isolation System Mike wanted a partner who embraced innovation and was keen to grow and develop in the mining sector. Mike found this in partner Orbital Corporation Ltd – a company also highly focused on innovation.
Mike also shares his processes with developing innovations and improvements through road mapping and the importance of creating relationships with business partners. He discusses his business growth plan, potential products, and solutions to industry.
