I am a Trainee Patent Attorney working in the Life Sciences team at Wrays. I graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science), with First Class Honours in Pharmacology, and a PhD in tumour biology and vascular/peptide targeting. My experience in medical research and academia spans over a decade and includes research in pharmacogenetics, immunology, animal models, genetic/tissue engineering, vascular remodelling, nanotechnology, cancer biology, MedTech and clinical trials.
Prior to joining Wrays, I worked as a Clinical Research Associate for three years, together with biomedical engineers, from BRITELab, UWA, and the university’s spin out commercial company OncoRes Medical, on the development of a disruptive medical imaging technology for detecting residual breast cancer in patients. This role provided me with clinical trials, commercial and industry experience in addition to my collective 8 years of working in research academia across Singapore and Australia.
While completing my PhD in cancer biology, I also acquired knowledge in research commercialisation, innovation and venture capital investment through courses undertaken at the Centre for Entrepreneurial Research and Innovation (CERI), Perth Biodesign for Medical Technology and Brandon Capital Biocatalyst Internship Program, and actively stayed engaged in the research community.
Currently, I am undertaking a Masters in Intellectual Property from the University of Technology Sydney. As part of the Wrays team I am fortunate to be learning from leaders in the profession, and to be a part of this elite circle. I hope to be able to serve future clients with in-depth analysis of various scientific technologies and developments to ensure they receive the most sophisticated and holistic advice in patent and trademark prosecution.
On a personal note, science has always fascinated me, and the opportunity to work alongside leading scientists at the forefront of cutting-edge technologies and scientific developments is the dream.
