Wrays has been selected as an industry partner working with University of Melbourne and The University of Western Australia to deliver the REDI-supported Australian Clinical Entrepreneurship Program (CEP). This ground-breaking program aims to develop the innovation and commercialisation skills of Australia’s clinicians and healthcare professionals. This program is powered by MTPConnect’s $32 million Researcher Exchange and Development within Industry (REDI) initiative made possible by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).
Wrays will be supporting the intellectual property components of the program in Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia. The two pilot programs will be delivered in 2022 and 2023, with the vision for national implementation following review of the pilot program.
About the Clinical Entrepreneur Program
The University of Melbourne in partnership with The University of Western Australia was selected to deliver the National Clinical Entrepreneur Program pilot in Australia.
This Clinical Entrepreneur Program (CEP) pilot, led by Professor John Prins from The University of Melbourne and Professor Kevin Pfleger from The University of Western Australia, will be based on the highly successful United Kingdom NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Program that has been operating since 2016.
Several hospitals in Victoria, Western Australia, and New South Wales have been chosen as pilot sites.
The CEP is supported by a consortium of esteemed industry partners, who possess the relevant industry knowledge and expertise to contribute to the success of the program for Australia. The consortium contains clinical entrepreneur role models, hospital executive leadership, a broad and deep range of industry partners, professional bodies, the NHS CEP team, State government and highly experienced providers of innovation and entrepreneurial programs with dedicated healthcare expertise.
In addition to Wrays, the Industry Partner consortium comprises: Biocurate, Biointelect, Bupa, Brandon Biocatalyst, Connected Life & Fitbit, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Creative Careers in Medicine, Centre for Digital Transformation of Health, CSL, Deloitte, Illumina, KPMG, Melbourne Academic Centre for Health (MACH), Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), MedTech Actuator, Microsoft, QRC Solutions, Western Australian Health Translation Network and Yuuwa Ventures.
The hospital partners include Bendigo Health, Western Health, St Vincent’s and Royal Melbourne Hospital.
