Wrays is delighted to announce four promotions across our firm.
On the east coast, Dr Phil Burns has been promoted to Special Counsel and Dr Daniel Beck has been promoted to Senior Associate. And in WA, Bindhu Holavanahalli has been promoted to Senior Associate and Grace Ng has been promoted to Associate.
With a degree in optoelectronics and a doctorate in physics research, Dr Phil Burns’ focus as a patent attorney is on seeking and securing patent protection for inventions across fields including photonics and bio-photonics, optical physics, laser technologies and applications, and software/IT applications and algorithms. Based in our Sydney office, Phil has been a key member of Wrays’ Engineering and Technology Group since 2016.
Dr Daniel Beck specialises in chemistry, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Based in Melbourne, Daniel joined Wrays after 11 years working at the Australian Patent Office (IP Australia), providing him with an insider’s perspective on patent prosecution and oppositions to grant. Daniel’s career also includes working as a research scientist at Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research in Switzerland.
As a patent and trade marks attorney and an intellectual property lawyer, Bindhu has become an integral part of the Wrays team since joining the firm as a graduate lawyer in 2014. Bindhu works across both Wrays’ brand protection and litigation teams, assisting in patent matters, including patent prosecution, opposition and litigation matters as well as trade mark applications and prosecution matters, brand disputes, domain name issues and other IP matters such as consumer law, passing off and copyright advice.
Grace Ng joined Wrays over five years ago and has continued to be an important member of our Trade Marks Group over this time. Based in Perth, Grace’s practise focuses principally on brand protection issues, both contentious and non-contentious, and on all aspects of trade marks prosecution and enforcement work, including portfolio planning and management and legal risk management.
Please join us in congratulating Phil, Daniel, Bindhu and Grace on their great achievements.
