Bindhu Holavanahalli Named Among Australasian Lawyer’s Future Legal Leaders

Wrays is proud to announce that Senior Associate Bindhu Holavanahalli has been recognised by Australasian Lawyer as a Future Legal Leader. These prestigious awards celebrate Australia’s Best Young Lawyers, recognising outstanding emerging talent who are not only excelling in their areas of expertise but also demonstrating the leadership, innovation, and vision needed to shape the future of the legal profession.

Bindhu was recognised for her exceptional talent and impact in the field of intellectual property law, where she serves as both a lawyer and a registered patent and trade marks attorney within Wrays’ dispute resolution team.

Bindhu has played a critical role in some of the most high-profile IP litigation matters in Australia. She was a key team member successfully representing Amgen before IP Australia in five patent oppositions brought by Sanofi in relation to Amgen’s anti-PCSK9 antibody patent portfolio and defending Amgen in a complex Federal Court appeal brought by Sanofi– the most technically intricate life sciences litigation in the country in recent years, with judgment currently pending. Her work has also contributed to significant wins for other clients in the pharmaceutical, mining and manufacturing industries, including successful outcomes in patent infringement and revocation cases.

Bindhu advises a diverse range of clients, from startups and indigenous entrepreneurs to multinational corporations, on IP protection and strategy. She is also a passionate contributor to industry development. This includes her work with Curtin University’s Ignition program mentoring new entrepreneurs, presenting to the Indigenous Business Council and offering pro bono support to not-for-profit organisations.

Bindhu’s thought leadership in IP is widely respected. Her articles on antibody patent protection in Australia, trade mark case law and global IP trends have featured on several legal platforms, helping demystify IP law for a broad audience. Bindhu’s presentation on “The Infringement of Non-Traditional Trade Marks” was selected for inclusion in the program at the 2025 Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA) Conference. Her dedication to innovation, education and excellence in legal practice embodies the very best of the profession.

Natalie Shoolman, Head of Litigation & Dispute Resolution at Wrays congratulated Bindhu saying:

“Being recognised as a Future Legal Leader is a well-deserved acknowledgment of Bindhu’s impressive career achievements to date. Not only is she poised to be a leader at Wrays, but she is already recognised as a standout leader in the Australian legal industry. Bindhu is highly respected by both clients and peers for her commercial insight, strategic analysis, and collaborative approach. She is an invaluable asset to our firm, exemplifying the technical expertise and service excellence we provide to our clients.”

Wrays congratulates Bindhu on this national recognition and looks forward to her continued impact on the legal and innovation landscapes in Australia and beyond.
